EAST RUTHERFORD -- Defensive end Owa Odighizuwa's star-crossed tenure with the Giants has come to an end. The team released the 2015 third-round pick on Tuesday morning.
"It is unfortunate that things have gone in this direction, but we wish nothing but the best for Owa as we all move forward," general manager Jerry Reese said in a statement.
Odighizuwa was waived less than 24 hours after it was announced that he would be suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Coach Ben McAdoo declined to provide any insight into the decision.
