Giants outside linebacker Olivier Vernon returned to practice Wednesday, for the first time since suffering what amounts to a high-ankle sprain in practice that required him to be carted off the field on Sept. 26.
Wednesday, Vernon took a step forward in his comeback, riding the exercise bike and doing side work with the trainers during the portion of practice that was open to reporters.
Vernon missed the Giants' preseason the remaining practices leading up to the preseason finale against the New England Patriots, and all of last week's preparation for the regular season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
