Giants turn to last-chance, drug-banned corner in hour of need

The Giants need Jayron Hosley, now more than ever.

There was a time, not long ago, when he wasn’t sure they would ever need him again.

This is his fourth year, and back in the summer he admitted “I was’’ when asked if he were surprised he made the team coming out of training camp. He did not expect to get cut, but …

“I could have been out of here just as easily as anybody else,’’ Hosley said Thursday.

Funny how some things come full circle. Hosley, a third-round draft pick in 2012, went from a solid prospect to an afterthought and now surfaces again, as a replacement starter at cornerback for Prince Amukamara, who will be out two to four weeks with a partially torn pectoral muscle suffered in Sunday night’s 30-27 victory over the 49ers.
