The New York Giants surprising acquisition of defensive tackle Leonard Williams from the New York Jets guarantees that something has to happen for the Giants on Tuesday with the NFL trade deadline set for 4 p.m. ET.
Per the NFLPA, the Giants have just $1.864 million in salary cap space. Williams, in the final year of a contract that pays him $14.2 million this season, will count $3.517 million against the Giants cap for this season. That means the Giants have to clear nearly $2 million from their books to get under the salary cap.
