Eli Apple’s turbulent Giants career is over.
The Giants traded the cornerback to the Saints on Tuesday, ESPN.com reported. The move came a day after the team fell to 1-6 in a disastrous first season for coach Pat Shurmur and GM Dave Gettleman.
The Giants selected Apple with the 10th pick of the 2016 draft, and he was a steady secondary presence for a playoff team that season. But he became the face of the Giants’ crash last season, amid differences with Ben McAdoo’s coaching staff and teammates.
Apple was suspended for the final game of the season and was publicly criticized by safety Landon Collins.
