Dave Gettleman already made it clear he wants Leonard Williams with the Giants long-term, and he’s not going to waste much time trying to make it happen.
The Giants plan to discuss a contract extension with the recently acquired defensive lineman before Thanksgiving, according to ESPN. The team acquired Williams from the rival Jets last Monday for a 2020 third-round pick and a 2021 fifth-round pick — which can become a fourth-rounder if the Giants extend Williams’ contract before the end of the league year in March.
Gettleman told the team’s website — he hasn’t addressed independent reporters since the first week of training camp — that the team’s goal is to lock Williams up long-term.
