The Giants are adding an experienced player to a young group of safeties.
The Giants will sign strong safety Duke Ihenacho, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The news was first reported by the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. There is no word on a corresponding move to make room on the team's 90-man roster.
Ihenacho spent the past three seasons with the Redskins. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound Ihenacho had 66 tackles in 15 games, including 10 starts, last season.
The Giants have All-Pro Landon Collins locked into the strong safety spot, so Ihenacho will likely battle for a roster spot as a backup.
