Giants tight end Daniel Fells remained hospitalized Sunday with a high fever more than a week after he was admitted to combat a MRSA infection, according to a source. Doctors continued to work toward eliminating the bacteria, which is resistant to many antibiotics and can be life-threatening in some situations.
The NFL Network reported Sunday morning that Fells already had undergone five surgeries on his foot to stave off the infection, with more coming in the future. If doctors are unable to stop the spread of the bacteria, they might have to amputate his foot as a life-saving maneuver.
