Leaving the big splashes to others, the Giants barely rippled the waters of free agency on Monday as teams were allowed to begin negotiations with players whose signings will become official with the start of the new league year on Wednesday. Even the two players they did ink to contracts – returning wide receiver C.J. Board and recently released wide receiver Robert Foster – were signings that had no ties to the start of the league-wide frenzy, for which the Giants were mostly idle bystanders.
All of which was expected given the financial limitations new general manager Joe Schoen faces in his first offseason in charge of the team.
