The New York Giants signed former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Canaan Severin on Friday.
He takes the roster spot of Keeon Johnson, who suffered a broken foot that needed surgery during Thursday's practice. Johnson and Severin were teammates at the University of Virginia.
The Giants also signed wide receiver Ed Eagan to replace the injured Kevin Snead. Eagan spent time with the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills last season.
Johnson, a rookie who went undrafted, flashed in recent weeks at Giants training camp.
