Giants sign Brandon Merriweather to help depleted secondary

The Giants’ secondary may not have gotten much better on Sunday, but it sure did get a lot nastier.

With their safety corps badly depleted by injuries, the Giants signed veteran safety Brandon Meriweather, one of the most notorious head-hunters in the NFL.

The 31-year-old former first-round pick worked out for the Giants on Sunday morning, and was on the practice field Sunday night, providing some much-needed help for the thinnest unit on the team.

Meriweather, who spent the previous three seasons with Washington, is a two-time Pro Bowler and could even end up as a starter with the Giants, after they lost rookie Landon Collins for at least a few weeks with a sprained MCL on Friday night.
