This is now more than happenstance. It is a trend.
The Giants on Friday signed their third defensive player in free agency, and all three are former Cardinals who played for defensive coordinator James Bettcher in Arizona. Olsen Pierre, a 27-year old defensive tackle, is the most recent addition, following safety Antoine Bethea and outside linebacker Markus Golden.
Clearly, Bettcher’s opinion has some pull with the Giants decision-making this offseason.
Pierre played in 24 games the past two years with eight starts. He had 5.5 sacks playing for Bettcher in 2017 but none last season, working in a new defense after Bettcher left the Cardinals for the Giants.
