New York Giants right tackle Tyre Phillips has a torn right quad tendon and will have surgery, head coach Brian Daboll confirmed on Monday morning.
Phillips collapsed to the MetLife Stadium turf early in the fourth quarter on Sunday while trying to pass block in the game against the Los Angeles Rams. He was carted off the field and was seen on crutches in the locker room after the game with a lengthy brace covering his right leg.
Phillips was cut by the Giants at the end of the preseason, then was signed off the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad when injuries devastated the Giants’ offensive line.
