Giants' roster moves: Safety Cooper Taylor waived

The New York Giants Tuesday waived reserve safety Cooper Taylor. A 2013 fifth-round draft pick, Taylor barely played in his two-plus seasons with the Giants.

Taylor played in three games this season, recording only one special teams assist. He spent 2014 on injured reserve with a foot injury. He played in 10 games, mostly on special teams, as a rookie.

The Giants did not announce a corresponding roster move, thus they currently have one open spot.

Taylor had an opportunity to win a starting safety job during the preseason, but wound up on the bench behind Landon Collins, Brandon Meriweather and Craig Dahl.
