The New York Giants on Tuesday made the signings of free agent right tackle Mike Remmers and undrafted free agent Freedom Akinmoladun (Nebraska) official. To make room on the 90-man roster, placekicker Joey Slye was waived and safety Jacob Thienemen was waived/injured.
Thienemen had suffered a knee injury during the team’s rookie mini-camp.
It has taken two offseasons, but GM Dave Gettleman has now completed his offensive line rebuild.
The presumed line now consists of Nate Solder (LT), Will Hernandez (LG), Jon Halapio (C), Kevin Zeitler (RG) and Remmers (RT). The newly-signed Remmers has started all 71 regular and post-season games in which he has played the past five seasons.
