The New York Giants on Saturday filled the open spot on their 53-man roster by activating rookie running back Eric Gray from injured reserve.
Gray was placed on IR Oct. 24.
A fifth-round pick, Gray was primarily used as a punt and kickoff returner before going on IR. It was a role he struggled in. Gray returned seven punts for an average of 4.0 yards, but fumbled three times. He returned four kickoffs for an average of 14.5 yards.
The Giants have been using wide receiver Parris Campbell to return kickoffs, and he has excelled.
