EAST RUTHERFORD -- J.T. Thomas' injury-plagued Giants career may end on injured reserve.
The veteran linebacker was placed on IR with a groin injury Thursday. The team also waived fullback Shane Smith, signed linebacker Deontae Skinner and promoted linebacker Cap Capi from the practice squad. The Giants did not announce a signing to the practice squad to replace Capi, so it is possible the Giants could bring Smith back to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Skinner was on the Giants' active roster last season and spent the offseason program and preseason with the team before being cut at the end of the summer.
