The New York Giants have claimed safety Anthony Johnson Jr. after he was waived by the Green Bay Packers.
The Giants also cut safety Gervarrius Owens in a corresponding roster move. He could be signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Johnson Jr., 24, was drafted out of Iowa State by the Packers in the seventh round (242nd overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. He brings good size for the position at 5-foot 11 1⁄2 inches and 205 pounds, and tested out well with solid speed and explosiveness.
