With wide receiver Sterling Shepard in the concussion protocol and almost certain to miss Sunday’s Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills the New York Giants are reportedly re-signing wide receiver/kick returner T.J. Jones.
Jones caught 64 passes in five seasons with the Detroit Lions. He was with the Giants in preseason, leading the team with 12 catches for 146 yards (12.2 yards per catch) and two touchdowns. Jones averaged 32.3 yards on three kickoff returns and 6.2 yards on nine punt returns.
The move makes sense as Jones already knows the playbook and can fill in both in the slot and on the outside, as well as offering return depth.
