With Alec Ogletree dealing with a hamstring issue and Tae Davis in the concussion protocol, the New York Giants are re-signing veteran linebacker Nate Stupar, per a published report.
The 31-year-old Stupar was a Giant last season, playing mostly on special teams. He was cut this year before Week 1.
The Giants ended Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with rookie Ryan Connelly and recently-signed veteran David Mayo as their only available inside linebackers.
It is perhaps surprising that the Giants brought back Stupar rather than promoting undrafted free agent rookie Josiah Tauaefa from the practice squad.
