Gallman had 1,133 yards rushing (4.9 yards per carry) and 17 touchdowns in his redshirt junior season. He had 51 fewer carries than in 2015 when he set Clemson's single-season record with 1,527 yards. Gallman accepted the reduced workload to help the team and it paid off with a national title.
Expect Gallman's rookie season to start like Perkins' did. Perkins saw limited offensive action early in the season, mostly working on special teams. Perkins eventually assumed a bigger role because veteran Rashad Jennings was ineffective. Gallman may not get the same opportunity if Perkins is able to maintain the strong form he showed late last season.
