Giants coach Ben McAdoo made Eli Apple a healthy scratch on Sunday after the cornerback missed two practices due to personal reasons. Ross Cockrell was promoted to the starting lineup and he thrived in the Giants' 12-9 overtime win over the Chiefs.
Cockrell played 74-of-75 snaps, missing one snap after he was shaken up on the first play from scrimmage. Cockrell finished with six tackles, but more impressive was his lack of involvement in the passing game.
Cockrell was targeted just twice, allowing one catch for 11 yards, according to Pro Football Focus.
