One player in particular that was possibly on the chopping block was New York Giants’ back-up tight end Levine Toilolo. Instead of releasing him, he has agreed to restructure his contract.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported the news on Twitter.
Toilolo was supposed to make $2.95 million in 2021. It will be interesting to see what his new salary is for the upcoming season. With the fact that he is strictly a blocking tight end that honestly isn’t great at his job, paying him almost $3 million didn’t make sense.
Instead of hitting the open market and possibly not being able to find a new team, Toilolo opted to redo his contract, which is a smart move on his end.
