The New York Giants have announced that they’ve released veteran offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler after spending the past two years with the organization.
This move had to be made with the NFL salary cap not going up this season. It saves them $12 million and $2.5 million will become dead money. He was a part of the trade that sent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns in 2018. The Giants also got safety Jabrill Peppers as a part of that deal.
The 31 year-old Zeitler is a good veteran offensive lineman that could certainly continue to help the Giants’ offense, but it didn’t make sense to keep him with such a large cap number.
