Backup offensive lineman Adam Gettis (foot) was placed on injured reserve on Monday. Gettis missed the second preseason game and played just one snap on special teams against the Jets on Saturday. Gettis appeared in three games last season, including one start at left guard in Week 12. The versatile veteran was a backup at the three interior spots. Gettis' absence solidifies Brett Jones' status as the top interior backup and could open the door for Jon Halapio to snag a roster spot.
The Giants signed cornerback Daniel Gray to take Gettis' roster spot. Gray will add depth for the final preseason game because the Giants will likely rest veterans Janoris Jenkins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, while Eli Apple (ankle) and Michael Hunter (concussion) are dealing with injuries.
