Pat Shurmur was never the CEO Dave Gettleman and the Giants wanted and needed, and they learned the hard way that it is hardly enough to be the adult in the room when every NFL head coach should be the adult in the room.
If the adult in the room is 9-23 after two seasons, then almost always it is time for a new adult in the room.
It has been painfully evident that as a head coach, Shurmur was a good offensive coordinator, and the Giants made the inevitable official when they fired him on Black Monday.
