Giants plan to work out Stevie Brown after release by Texans

It was seemingly too good to be true. The Houston Texans reportedly released former Giants safety Stevie Brown on Friday. And his old team sure is desperate for safety help.

But don’t necessarily count on what seems like a logical reunion. According to his agent, there are “a number of teams” in the mix for Brown.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the Giants are one of them, but it’s hard to believe they wouldn’t at least place a call given their deteriorating safety situation this summer. They have already lost three safeties – Bennett Jackson, Mykkele Thompson and Justin Currie – for the season, and a fourth – Nat Berhe – may be lost too after undergoing surgery on his calf on Saturday.
