In a tightly-contested showdown in Germany, the Carolina Panthers on Sunday edged the New York Giants in an overtime thriller, 20-17.
An Eddy Pineiro 36-yard field goal in overtime provided the winning points.
The Giants are now 2-8 and have lost five straight games.
The Panthers initially seized control with a 10-0 lead by halftime, and for most of the game, it seemed like Carolina was in the driver’s seat. But the Giants made a late comeback, scoring 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 17-17, pushing it to overtime.
However, the Giants’ momentum quickly faltered when running back Tyrone Tracy fumbled on the very first play of overtime, allowing Panthers linebacker Josey Jewell to recover.
