Giants on verge of hiring Ben McAdoo as head coach, sources say

The Giants are close to a deal that would make offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo their new head coach, sources have confirmed to Newsday’s Bob Glauber.

McAdoo was brought in as Giants offensive coordinator before the 2014 season. He was the first candidate the Giants interviewed after former head coach Tom Coughlin stepped down after 12 years on the job.

The Giants were expected to interview Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson for the job later in the week, but Jackson accepted a head-coaching job with the Cleveland Browns. Other candidates that the Giants had interviewed included defensive cooSrdinator Steve Spagnuolo, former Falcons coach Mike Smith, former Bills coach Doug Marrone and Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.
