EAST RUTHERFORD -- One of the biggest surprises of the summer across the NFL was wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. reporting to Giants' training camp on time, without the security of a long-term contract as he enters the final year of his rookie deal.
What made Beckham's actions this offseason so surprising, is the fact that he is coming off suffering a shattered right-ankle in Week 5 which ended his 2017 season, and even before reporting to camp was a participant in voluntary OTA workouts and mandatory minicamp practices earlier this spring.
"It's calculated," Beckham said, when asked by NJ Advance Media Saturday about the risk of taking part in full-padded training camp practices as he enters the final season of his rookie contract.
