There was a report Monday that doctors had already removed part of the foot of Giants tight end Daniel Fells, hospitalized with MRSA, thus ending his NFL career. Reports from both Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News and Jordan Ranaan of NJ Advance Media indicate otherwise.
Vacchiano wrote that while Fells' foot is "intact," his career is "almost certainly over." Ranaan wrote that "there is still hope he can make a full recovery, even if playing professional football again looks like a long shot."
The Giants had Fells on Skype during a team meeting on Monday and presented him with the game ball from Sunday's victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
