The Giants have cut Valentino Blake, giving the veteran cornerback an outright release 11 days after he left the team for personal reasons.
Blake's release was buried in the mammoth NFL daily personnel report published late Saturday after the 4 p.m. deadline for teams to set their initial 53-man rosters. The move came after the Giants swung a deal to add a corner, shipping a conditional seventh-round pick to the Steelers for Ross Cockrell.
Blake had an inside track for the fifth cornerback spot and a sizable role on special teams before he left the team on Aug.
