Giants miss out on NFC East, playoffs after Eagles tank against Washington

Now that it’s official, the Washington Football Team have won the NFC East and the New York Giants are officially finished with a 6-10 record after defeating the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon.

What’s really sad is that the Philadelphia Eagles had plenty of chances to defeat Washington, but Philly head coach Doug Pederson decided to punt instead of attempting a 53-yard field goal. He also decided to go for a fourth and goal at the Washington four yard line and they failed to score. Both instances occurred in the third quarter with his team down 17-14.

The icing on the cake was when Pederson decided to put third string quarterback Nate Sudfeld in the game for rookie Jalen Hurts in the fourth quarter with his team only down 17-14.
