Giants make one quarterback decision: More Alex Tanney

The Giants made a move affecting their quarterback situation, but it has nothing to do with anything at the top of the depth chart, nothing at all to do with keeping Eli Manning, trading for Josh Rosen or drafting Dwayne Haskins. The team re-signed Alex Tanney, one of the NFL’s most nondescript backups.

Tanney is 31 years old, has kicked around the league since 2012 and yet has appeared in only one regular-season game, back in 2015, when he played for the Titans in relief of Zach Mettenberger. Tanney last summer surprisingly made the Giants’ final roster and was elevated ahead of rookie Kyle Lauletta into the No.
