The Giants let Kelvin Sheppard walk away after he started 11 games at middle linebacker last season. That was an indication of how the organization viewed the journeyman.
But the Giants' linebacking corps has been so decimated by injuries that Sheppard not only was re-signed on Nov. 8, the veteran has started two games since his return. Sheppard played 66-of-71 defensive snaps and had seven tackles in Thursday's 20-10 loss to the Redskins.
Linebacker Jonathan Casillas, who had been listed as questionable with a neck injury, played 60 defensive snaps and was headed for an X-ray on his wrist after the game.
