Giants linebacker Jonathan Casillas will not be climbing into the octagon anytime soon.
Casillas, a New Brunswick native, laughed an online report Wednesday by champions.co that said upstart mixed martial arts organization Combate Americas is about to sign Casillas as a fighter.
Combate Americas is a MMA franchise focused on providing opportunities for Latino fighters. Casillas, who is of Puerto Rican descent, attended one of the organization's events with CEO Campbell McLaren on Tuesday. Apparently that is where the rumor comes from, with McLaren telling the website Casillas' signing was "very close.
