The Giants need linebackers, and could be close to adding an all-time great — to the coaching staff.
Mike Singletary, the former 49ers coach and 10-time Pro Bowl linebacker with the Bears, is interviewing to be Big Blue’s linebackers coach, ESPN reported Thursday.

Singletary’s success as a player — he won Super Bowl XX with the Bears — didn’t carry over into coaching; he was 18-22 over parts of three seasons with the 49ers.
Singletary last coached in the NFL with Minnesota, where he was the Vikings’ assistant head coach/linebackers coach in 2013.
