Giants injury news, 9/11: Kareem Martin out “weeks” with knee injury

Kareem Martin will be out weeks for the New York Giants with a knee sprain suffered Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Pat Shurmur said on Wednesday. Shurmur also confirmed that wide receiver Sterling Shepard is in the concussion protocol.

Martin, 27, is in his sixth season. He played all 16 games for the Giants a year ago with seven starts, compiling 1.5 sacks and 48 tackles. Without Martin, rookie third-round pick Oshane Ximines could see more action. Perhaps there will also be immediate snaps for EDGE Tuzar Skipper, claimed this week on waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
