Giants hire defensive assistant to complete Ben McAdoo's 1st coaching staff

The Giants have hired former journeyman defensive tackle Jeff Zgonina as their assistant defensive line coach, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NJ Advance Media. The hire was first reported by Fox Sports' Alex Marvez.

NJ Advance Media first reported in January that Giants head coach Ben McAdoo was adding a assistant defensive line position to his staff. The Giants did not have an assistant defensive line coach under former head coach Tom Coughlin.

With Zgonina's hire, McAdoo's coaching staff is now complete, according to a source.

Zgonina served as the Houston Texans' assistant defensive line coach in 2013.
