The Giants started negotiations with Odell Beckham Jr. earlier this week over a new long-term deal that would likely make him the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, according to ESPN.com.
Giants co-owner John Mara signaled last week that he hopes to sign Beckham but “wanted to see what he could do on the field and wanted him to pass his physical.” He is returning to the field after missing much of last season because of a fractured left ankle.
“We feel very good about where he is,” Mara said.
The three-time Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his rookie contract and could be a free agent if he doesn’t sign another deal with the Giants, though the team owns his contractual rights through 2021 if it uses a franchise tag.
