Giants have roster hole after losing Daniel Fells for season

In the battle of attrition that is the NFL season, the Giants lost one of their valuable players for the remainder of the season, as tight end Daniel Fells is headed to injured reserve after a staph infection was discovered.

Fells was being treated for a chronic ankle condition – he did not play in the 24-10 victory over the Bills with what the Giants described as a foot injury – when the staph infection was found. The infection requires treatment, which means his season is over.

It is a significant loss to the Giants. Fells, 32, was the best blocking tight end on the roster, by a wide margin.
