It is always worth noting which positions get filled by draft choices because youngsters already on the roster at those positions might see their job security threatened. It happened to tight end Jerome Cunningham and safety G.J. Kinne, who were waived Thursday as the team welcomed in players for the start of rookie mini-camp.
Cunningham, a product of Southern Connecticut, has been with the Giants for the past two years. He caught eight passes for 59 yards in nine games (three starts) last season after spending 2014 on the practice squad.
Kinne, on the practice squad last season, was a quarterback at Tulsa who was making the transition to safety.
