The Giants were not going to go into the season without upgrading their kicking game, and now they won’t have to. They acquired punter Riley Dixon in a trade Friday with the Broncos, sending a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick to Denver.
The Giants had two seventh-round picks in 2019, gaining an extra one in a trade with the Rams for linebacker Alec Ogletree.
Brad Wing handled the punting duties the past three seasons, but he struggled in 2017 and was released March 10, leaving only Austin Rehkow of Idaho on the roster at punter. Wing’s net average of 37.
