Pat Shurmur filled two vacancies on his coaching staff by adding two defensive assistants, hiring Mike Dawson to coach the Giants’ outside linebackers and Henry Baker as the assistant defensive-backs coach. Dawson replaces Rob Leonard, who left the Giants to become the Dolphins’ linebackers coach, and Baker replaces Deshea Townsend, who left for the Bears.
Dawson was with the Eagles from 2013-15, when Shurmur was the offensive coordinator in Philadelphia. Bill McGovern, the current Giants linebackers coach, was also on that Eagles staff. Dawson most recently was the defensive-line coach at Nebraska.
