EAST RUTHERFORD -- Eli Manning will have a slow Friday night, as expected.
Manning will not play in the Giants' preseason opener against the Steelers at MetLife Stadium. Head coach Ben McAdoo hinted the quarterback would not see action after Wednesday's practice, and the team confirmed he will be out a few hours before kickoff (7 p.m., NBC-4 and NFL Network).
Josh Johnson will start at quarterback for the Giants. In addition to Manning, cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will be healthy scratches. The team did not announced wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
