The New York Giants have traded veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, a player who did not appear to have a place with the team, to the Dallas Cowboys. Jordan Schultz was first with the report.
According to Schultz, the Giants will receive a sixth-round pick from the Cowboys and will send Dallas a seventh-round selection.
The 31-year-old Phillips, in his 10th NFL season, signed with the Giants as a free agent in the offseason. He had, though, been practicing primarily with the second and third team defensive groups.
The Giants have a number of young defensive linemen vying for spots alongside Dexter Lawrence and Rakeem Nunez-Roches.
