EAST RUTHERFORD -- Tim Walton was the Rams' defensive coordinator in 2013 when Janoris Jenkins was a second-year cornerback bubbling with potential but lacking consistency.
Walton wasn't retained after one season with the Rams, eventually landing as the Giants' cornerbacks coach in 2015. When Jenkins became a free agent after the 2015 season, Walton lobbied the Giants to sign the cornerback.
The Giants gave Jenkins a five-year, $62.5 million contract and he rewarded the team - and Walton's - faith with an All-Pro performance. Even Walton was pleasantly surprised by Jenkins' first season with the Giants.
