It may qualify as a ‘Master of the Obvious’ type of statement, but New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur said Tuesday that the team’s pass protection was its best of the season in Monday’s 27-23 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
“I thought for the most part our pass protection was as good as its been this year,” Shurmur said during a conference call on Tuesday.
The Giants, who had given up 31 sacks in eight games entering Monday, surrendered only one against the 49ers.
The Giants were bolstered along that line by the insertion of Jamon Brown, recently awarded to the Giants on waivers from the Los Angeles Rams, into the starting lineup at right guard.
