Giants claim defensive tackle Jimmy Staten of waivers, release Carlif Taylor

The Giants have claimed a defensive tackle from the Seattle Seahawks. Could he push his way up the depth chart?

The preseason roster shuffling continues today as the New York Giants waived defensive tackle Carlif Taylor and claimed defensive tackle Jimmy Staten off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.

Staten was drafted by the Seahawks out of Middle Tennessee St. in the fifth round of the 2014 draft, but spent the entirety of that season on the Seattle practice squad.

Staten is a long, athletic, and strong defensive tackle, measuring 6-foot-4, 303 pounds.
