With less than six minutes remaining in the third quarter of their game against the unbeaten Panthers yesterday, the Giants were trailing by 28 points and wide receiver Odell Beckham had more drops (two), and penalties (one, plus another that was declined), than he did catches (zero).
At that point, it seemed as if the game was over. It turned out it was a long way from over.
In the end, the Giants did lose, though not in a blowout. Instead they lost when kicker Graham Gano drilled a 43-yard field goal with no time remaining to give Carolina a 38-35 victory.
